We're back on the road to Lisbon and Porto this week. This time we're traveling by train which is quite a treat! I think by the end of this month, we would have stayed in 50 places since we arrived here on October 10th, 2020.
Two days ago during dinner, I stopped and took in the scene around me. It was one of those "pinch me" moments where I was so grateful for where I am. I looked at all of the people around me from different parts of Europe, observed the kindness and gentleness of the Portuguese waiters attending to everyone around them, I watched what each person chose to eat and Christmas music was playing in the background. I felt as if I was in my own version of the movie It's A Wonderful Life. I always secretly wanted to experience living in Europe and here I am.
The Christmas decorations have been up for a couple of weeks in different cities and everywhere we go Christmas music is being played. It's cool, not cold. This is my favourite time of the year, I love love love it all! I am encouraging you in this: if you want to experience a truly peaceful and calm country, please visit Portugal. The peace that exists here is like something I once experienced a very long time ago that I thought no longer existed. Peace is something that I no longer take for granted as I see it is does not exist in many places today. It is to be treasured. I believe we are protected from so many things by being here.
