Saying Goodbye

Updated: Nov 6, 2022

Today we left Porto to continue our journey north to Amorosa in the region of Viana do Castelo. We only intended to stay in Porto for 3 weeks back in April, but ended up staying for almost 2.5 months. It is a very beautiful city with many things to offer in experiences. We also said goodbye to my faithful old suitcase. I purchased the suitcase in 2015 when my life changed drastically by the choices I made that year. I said "Yes" to going on my first cruise where I first met Robert Holden and some of the people who I am still in contact with today. It was out of that cruise that I said "Yes" to quitting my job. In 2015 I also said "Yes" to Ernest, to be his wife. Because I said "Yes" in all of these life changing decisions, I am here today. I chose this suitcase for the journey and it's served me well on so many trips. I was happy to donate it full of clothing to bless more people, but I will miss it like a faithful old friend.

In the coming weeks, I will doing my very best to downsize some things even more. Next are books and paper. It's time to say goodbye to those because of the paper weight. I know that I can get by with a notepad only. My clothing seem to be taking on a natural order of its own with the number 3. I can get by with 3 tops, 3 pairs of pants, 3 dresses etc.

Here's an interesting fact. Ernest found a piece of paper that he wrote some future goals on back in 2016. One of his goals was that we would leave Canada and live out of 2 suitcases each! The goal was so specific as to how we live our lives now that it alarmed me when I saw it! We now have 4 pieces of luggage: 3 suitcases and one golf bag. Be careful what you write about as your goals. You just never know when they will come true. Saying "Yes" to life adds so much more adventure to it, to make the goals and dreams really take off!
