Having my mom here and putting my focus on her and us has already changed how I treat each day. As I devote time to who matters the most, the what matters is becoming clearer. Since mom arrived on Tuesday, I am doing exactly what I said I would do. I'm working on what is important and not driving myself to work into the wee hours of the evening for the sake of completion. Spending time with her is the most valuable part of this trip.
According to mom, she's defrosting from being in Canada! She said that her body is beginning to relax, as if being in winter carried a certain tension to it. Yesterday we spent some time at the beach. It was my joy to see her in the water and relaxing under the umbrella. What a perfect way to enjoy life! Mom expressed the nature of the people of Joao Pessoa very well: carefree. As we ate dinner on the patio, we enjoyed seeing the people do fun things like skating, cyling, hanging out, playing music, eating ice cream, exercising, dancing, walking their dogs. Children were enjoying themselves by just being kids. I said it before and I will say it again, if you want to expereince a happy country, come to Brasil!
